In this article, author and studio owner Justin T. Swain demystifies and provides clarity on what vocal hygiene is, provides tips on how to promote vocal health and longevity, as well as offers guidance to a wider audience than just the students he sees on a weekly basis in the studio.

Client Testimonials

Krista Lively Stauffer, Acting Coach/Teacher, Columbus-Based Artist-Teacher & Film/TV Actress

“As a professional acting coach/teacher, I need someone to help my students who understands pedagogy and can train ALL voices properly. Justin has worked with a large number of my acting students over the years that need vocal training, and his work has brought them leaps and bounds. He works with students of all ages to help them understand how their voices work and how to use that voice on stage. Justin is a patient, calm, voice of reason, and professional to help students of all levels work toward their goals of performance.”

Shelley Oleson, Mother of Voice Student @ TSS

“My 13-year-old daughter recently started voice lessons here, and the experience has been wonderful from the very first session. She is completely new to singing and wanted some structured training to build her confidence. Her instructor, Grace has been fantastic—kind, encouraging, and full of infectious energy that immediately puts her at ease. Even though she’s still at the beginning of her journey and working hard to develop her skills, I can already see her growing more confident each week. The lessons strike a great balance between pushing her to practice and improve, while also keeping the experience fun and supportive.

The environment is warm and welcoming, which has made a big difference for my daughter as she steps outside of her comfort zone. She actually looks forward to her lessons and leaves with a smile, feeling accomplished and motivated to keep going. I highly recommend these voice lessons for anyone looking for both quality instruction and a positive, uplifting atmosphere.”

Rachel Lambermont, Mother of Piano Student @ TSS

“I had the pleasure of meeting Richard when my son started piano. I was immediately impressed. Richard was able to meet my son where he was developmentally and we saw growth from the start! Richard is a patient and kind teacher. He is highly skilled, offering instruction based in solid musical foundation. My son is learning the music that is the basis of piano. Richard’s instruction goes far beyond the keyboard. I can’t recommend Richard enough!”
